Improving global prehospital and emergency medicine, public health, and disaster health care and preparedness

Call for Abstracts

The WADEM Congress 2023 invites abstract submissions for oral and poster presentations. The Congress theme is “Complexity and Continuity: Caring, Coping, and Overcoming in an Increasingly Challenging World.” Submissions are encouraged across a wide range of themes of relevance to disaster medicine, prehospital care, and the health aspects of emergency management and complex humanitarian crises.

Abstract submissions can be made by clicking the button below. All abstracts must be submitted by 12:00 CST (midnight) on Monday, 7 November 2022. Authors will be notified of provisional acceptance of abstracts by 21 December 2022, including the accepted presentation type. Presenters of accepted abstracts must be registered and paid by the Early Registration Deadline on 13 February 2023.

Accepted abstracts will be published as a special online supplement to WADEM’s academic journal, Prehospital and Disaster Medicine on Cambridge Core.

Presentation Format Options

Oral Presentation – A spoken presentation, including introduction and question and answer time. Presenters display the research and/or findings of their accepted abstract in a slide presentation.

Lightning PresentationFive Minutes, Five Slides – This exciting oral presentation format requires presenters to make their point clearly and limit non-critical information in the presentation during the allotted five-minute presentation time.

Table Top Presentation – Presenters have the opportunity to present to several different small groups during the session. At timed intervals, the presenter will move to another table of listeners to give the same presentation. This informal presentation style facilitates discussion, the exchange of ideas, and networking with other delegates.

Poster Presentation – Presenters will display a printed poster in the exhibition space. Each day of the Congress will have a dedicated poster session in which presenters will be able to present their posters, answer questions, and interact with delegates. Additionally, presenters will be able to upload their posters to an online poster gallery.

While every effort will be made to accept an abstract for the presentation type selected in the submission process, the Committee reserves the right to change the presentation type.
