Forum Presentation: Science for Resilience: A Healthy Community is Resilient against Disaster
Professor Shinichi Egawa is the Assistant Director of the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) and a Professor at Tohoku University’s Division of International Cooperation for Disaster Medicine. Prof. Egawa earned his MD and PhD at Tohoku University in 1987 and 1996, respectively.
Prof. Egawa has published over 180 papers and participated in nearly 100 international lectures. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Best Poster from the 2016 Asia-Pacific Conference for Disaster Medicine and being named in the 2010 list of Best Doctors in Japan. Prof. Egawa’s most recent published works focus on disaster science in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
He holds memberships in a number of professional societies related to his work, including the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine, the Japanese Association for Disaster Medicine, and the Japanese Society of Public Health. Additionally, Prof. Egawa serves as the Executive Editor of disaster prevention science in the Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine and as the Associate Editor of Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness.
