Aidana Sissenberdiyeva is a certified disaster and emergency medicine physician and a part-time lecturer from Almaty, Kazakhstan. She earned an MD at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University and completed a residency in Disaster and Emergency Medicine. During the residency, she received formal training in both the clinical and operational aspects of disaster response, actively participating in a range of multispecialty field training sessions and simulation exercises.
Aidana has a strong professional interest in disaster medicine, with a particular fascination for its multidisciplinary nature. In pursuit of a broader understanding of crises and their systemic impacts, she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Conflict Studies at the Department of Political Science and Political Technologies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Her goal is to deepen her expertise in conflict dynamics to provide more effective healthcare in complex humanitarian and conflict settings.
In addition to her clinical and academic work, Aidana teaches the course “Medical Care in Emergency Situations” at her Alma-Mater, training future medical doctors in the principles of emergency response. As a member of the WADEM Student and Young Professional Special Interest Group leadership, she is committed to expanding WADEM’s global reach, particularly increasing Central Asian representation and inspiring more students in the region to explore this vital and dynamic field.
