Hasan Yücel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University in Türkiye. He holds a PhD and MSc in Disaster Management from Gümüşhane University, with research focusing on earthquake preparedness and risk perception in CBRN events.
Dr. Yücel has been actively involved in disaster education and preparedness, contributing to both national and international academic literature. His research interests include disaster risk reduction, emergency response strategies, and CBRN event management. He has authored several scientific articles and book chapters on disaster resilience, public health preparedness, and the role of science and technology in disaster risk reduction. A certified instructor in fire safety and drone operations, Dr. Yücel has also completed international training programs, including the UN-CMCoord eCourse and the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Program in Spain. He is a member of the Association for Development of CBRN Defense Policies in Turkey.
Dr. Yücel currently serves as an academic advisor to the Climate Change, Disaster Management, and Sustainability student community within the university and holds positions on the Faculty Board and Executive Board. He is dedicated to advancing disaster medicine education and is particularly interested in interdisciplinary approaches to emergency and disaster response.
