Mel Ebeling

Dr. Mel Ebeling is an emergency medicine resident physician at the University of Cincinnati. Before beginning residency, Mel attended medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine, where they previously graduated with a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience. Mel is also a trained Emergency Medical Technician and Hazardous Materials Specialist with a strong foundation in fire-based 911 emergency response, ground ambulance operations, and event medicine (e.g., NASCAR).

In advance of the 2022 World Games, they also served as a community liaison for the Dept. of Homeland Security Office of Bombing Prevention, educating community stakeholders on bombing prevention measures. Coupled with these experiences, Mel regularly teaches STOP THE BLEED® courses and has published the first high-fidelity simulation on Acute Radiation Syndrome. After residency, Mel hopes to complete an EMS/disaster medicine fellowship and gain further experience in the counterterrorism and disaster response realms.
