Wyatt Blackstone is a third-year medical student at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (DO ’27) in Biddeford, Maine. During his time at UNE COM, he has served as President of the UNE COM WADEM Student Club, where he led a Mass Casualty Incident training open to undergraduate and graduate students across healthcare disciplines, successfully training over 90 participants. Through sustained advocacy efforts, UNE COM will soon integrate mass casualty and disaster response training into the core curriculum for all medical students.
Wyatt has also been a member of the Maine Forest Service’s Wildland Fire Crew since high school, completing both national and international deployments. His early experiences as an EMT and wildland firefighter sparked his passion for emergency medicine and incident management. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Wyatt served as a Crew Chief for his college’s campus emergency medical service and worked with the Maine Emergency Management Agency during the COVID-19 response. Following graduation, he took a gap year working with the York County Emergency Management Agency, where he supported logistics and operations for the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mpox outbreak, environmental disasters, and tactical law enforcement missions. Wyatt wants to pursue an emergency medicine residency with hopes of completing a disaster medicine fellowship.
