Dr. Ryan Hata is a board-certified emergency physician with over 15 years of experience in clinical medicine, education, and leadership. Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, he graduated Magna Cum Lauda from the University of Utah and received his Medical Doctorate from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed an Emergency Medicine Residency at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and the Disaster Medicine Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts.
Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine and the Assistant Director for the Disaster Medicine Fellowship at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. During his career he has practiced extensively in both community and academic medicine and served in various leadership positions for several for-profit and non-profit organizations. He has led multiple international medical education and disaster relief missions to South America, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean, and has helped develop sustainable medical initiatives in austere and resource-poor areas of the world.
Dr. Hata is a well-published researcher and sought-after international speaker. His research and academic interests include disaster medicine, healthcare cybersecurity and technology, medical education, and counter-terrorism medicine. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity and Risk Management at Indiana University.
