Jeffrey Franc

Dr. Jeffrey Michael Franc holds specialty training in Primary Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Sport Medicine. He also has master’s degrees in Disaster Medicine (UPO) and Applied Statistics (RIT). Dr. Franc has over 20 years of experience in computer programming including website development, app development, and mathematical simulation modelling. He is as Six Sigma black-belt and has numerous certifications in Incident Command System and Emergency Operations Center.

Dr. Franc is the Research Director in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Alberta in Canada. He is also a visiting professor in Disaster Medicine at the Universita’ del Piemonte Orientale, in Novara, Italy and the chief statistician at the CRIMEDIM – Center for Research and Training in Disaster Medicine, Humanitarian Aid, and Global Health in Italy. He is also the CEO of Stat59, an Artificial Intelligence-based statistics software platform.

His research interests focus primarily on using computer simulation and modelling in Emergency Department Surge Capacity for Disasters and in the use of Artificial Intelligence for disaster response. He is a member of The Provost’s Taskforce on AI in the Learning Environment at the University of Alberta.
