Following up on a Fellowship in Disaster Medicine, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Vijai Bhola is currently a Fellow in Critical Care Medicine at Einstein/Montefiore Medical School.
Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, he completed his Medical School at the University of the West Indies. His passion for Global Health led him to pursue Tropical Medicine training at the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Massachusetts.
He has done international relief work in Poland during the Ukraine crisis and in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. As a member of the Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility, he was actively involved in planning their climate change conference and in the upcoming conference on Nuclear Disasters. Co-Chair and co-founder of the Infectious Diseases Special Interest Group (ID-SIG) at the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine, he is passionate about the intersection of infectious diseases, critical care, disasters, and global health.
