Dr. Luca Pigozzi obtained a degree in medicine in 2011. He later completed a fellowship in emergency medicine in 2017 and a master’s in public health and disaster management in 2022. After employment at an emergency department in Torino (Italy), Dr. Pigozzi decided to start his career in the humanitarian world.
In 2017, Dr. Pigozzi began working with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), covering different positions, such as medical team leader and medical coordinator, designing and implementing emergency health programs, providing continuous support to the field teams, and ensuring quality standards. He has experience in many contexts, including conflict zones such as Syria, Ethiopia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Ukraine, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Yemen. Starting in 2023, Dr. Pigozzi has worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Ukraine as a sub-national health cluster coordinator and, more recently, in Gaza as an Emergency Medical Team (EMT) coordinator.
