Prof. Nahoko Harada is a disaster researcher at Okayama University with a background in emergency clinical care. She gained experience in trauma bay and knowledge and skills in caring for severe trauma patients in the Adult Acute Nurse Practitioner course at the University of Pennsylvania. Experience from providing humanitarian assistance during the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 while at Boston College, deepened her understanding of minimum standards in humanitarian assistance. Prof. Harada has worked to contextualize this in Japan.
She has also worked and researched as an expert in psychosocial support for disaster relief workers, from the community to the government. She is a committee member of the WADEM 2025 Tokyo as a representative of the Japan Association for Disaster Medicine.
