Killiam Argote

Dr. Killiam Argote-Araméndiz is a humanitarian practitioner and Disaster and Emergency Medicine Specialist with extensive experience in clinical care, emergency health programming, and humanitarian operations. He has worked across Afghanistan, Ukraine, Lebanon, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, Venezuela, and Colombia, leading efforts in the support of emergency departments, hospital mass casualty preparedness and response, prehospital emergency care, and health system strengthening in complex and protracted crisis settings. His work also contributes to the development and institutionalization of emergency and disaster medicine as a recognized specialty in low-resource and crisis-affected contexts.

He holds a medical degree and a specialization in Emergency Medicine from Universidad de Antioquia in Colombia, and completed the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Harvard Medical School Fellowship in Disaster Medicine in the United States. He is a Fellow of the International Board of Disaster Medicine (FIBODM) and is currently completing a Master’s degree in International Humanitarian Affairs at the University of York in the United Kingdom.

Alongside his operational responsibilities, Dr. Argote-Araméndiz actively contributes to the advancement of the emergency and disaster medicine community. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Fellowship in Disaster Medicine and chairs the Governance Committee of the Board of the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM). He is also an active member of the Colombian Association of Emergency Medicine (ACEM).
