Improving global prehospital and emergency medicine, public health, and disaster health care and preparedness

Humaira Nakhuda

Humaira is a public health and health promotion professional. She currently works with the Canadian Red Cross in supporting humanitarian responses across Canada and is a young professional leader with the International Union for Health Promotion and Education. Humaira has worked with the Public Health Agency of Canada in COVID-19 operations, World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe, Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health, and SickKids Centre for Global Child Health with publications including on measuring gender equality and sexual and reproductive health in humanitarian settings.

Humaira has a Master of Public Health in Health Promotion from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She is involved in research with the Global Health Emergency Medicine Health Equity Committee in the Division of Emergency Medicine, University of Toronto. Her research and practice interests are in emergency preparedness and management, public health diplomacy and governance, human rights, and child health and protection.
